MATCH PREVIEW - AIRDRIEONIANS (A)

Posted February 5, 2016

After an inactive weekend last weekend we get back into Ladbrokes League 1 action on Saturday afternoon when we face Airdrieonians at the Excelsior Stadium with a 3 p.m. kick off.

In the two previous meetings of the sides this season each side has won their home fixture. Back in September we went down 3-2 in Airdrie, David Cox had given the Diamonds the lead but goals from Robbie Buchanan and Andy Murdoch put us in front by the hour mark.

However goals from George Hunter (now on loan at Spartans from St Johnstone) and Liam Watt gave the Diamonds all three points.

The return game at Central Park in December saw a 3-0 win with goals from Greig Spence (2) and Andy Murdoch whose two goals during his loan spell both came against Airdrie.

This proved to be Gary Bollan's last game in charge of Airdrie as the following day he resigned to take over as manager of Forfar and was quickly replaced by Eddie Wolecki Black, who has previously managed Montrose and Glasgow City.

The new managers first two games saw defeats from Peterhead (3-4) and Stenhousemuir (0-1) but they are unbeaten in their last three league games beating Albion Rovers (2-1),drawing 3-3 at Brechin and winning 1-0 at Dunfermline 1-0 last Friday night before the live BBC Alba cameras.

They also narrowly lost to Premiership side Dundee United 1-0 in the Scottish Cup at the Excelsior.

COWDEN AWAY FORM

Our last league away game was the 2-1 New Year defeat from neighbours Dunfermline prior to this we had beaten Forfar 1-0.
