MATCH PREVIEW - ARBROATH (A) - WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP THIRD ROUND REPLAY.
Following last Saturday's 1-1 draw at Central Park we head to Gayfield Park this Saturday for the replay with a 3 p.m. kick off.
Tuesday afternoon's draw for the Fourth Round added more excitement to the re match when the two sides were handed the prize of a visit to Irbrox to face Ladbrokes Championship leaders Rangers early in the New Year.
Ironically both sides have a player on loan from the Glasgow side - Andy Murdoch for Cowden and Darren Ramsay for Arbroath.
Statistically speaking it perhaps shouldn't have come as that much of a surprise that last week's game ended in a draw, prior to the match the sides had met seven times in the Scottish Cup with three of the games ending in a draw.
It took a goal from sub Craig Johnston with 17 minutes to go, his first for the first team, to give us the chance of a rematch after Mark Whatley had put the League 2 side in front ten minutes after the break.
Former Cowden keeper Allan Fleming played in his first game at Central Park since leaving us to join Kelty Hearts a decade ago while one time loanee David Gold was in the Red Lichties line up.
We have two players in our side who have played for Arbroath in the past, Brad Donaldson had a spell on loan there from Hibs a few years back while Aldin El Zubaidi spent the first half of last season on loan to the Angus side from Hamilton Accies.
