MATCH PREVIEW - PETERHEAD (A)

Posted November 19, 2015

After seeing our midweek trip to Albion Rovers fall victim to the weather for a third time we get back into Ladbrokes League 1 action on Saturday when we face Peterhead at Balmoor  with a 3 p.m. kick off.

The trip comes five years and a day since our last visit to the Blue Toon on 20th November when goals from Ryan Strachan and Neil McVitie either side of half time gave the home side a 2-0 win in a Scottish Cup tie.

Our last win at Peterhead came on 12th December 2009 in a Third Divison fixture when we won 2-0 thanks to goals from Jon Robertson and Joe Mbu.

Back in September in our previous meeting this season the sides fought out a 2-2 draw at Central Park with us twice coming from behind despite playing most of the second half with ten men after Mo Yaqub was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.

Rory McAllister had given the Blue Toon the lead after only two minutes from the penalty spot with Gordon Smith getting our equaliser with 15 minutes gone.

Shane Sutherland gave Peterhead the lead once more just after the hour mark with Greig Spence getting our equaliser with seven minutes to go.

Peterhead sit in sixth place in the table two places and a point above us, although they have played a game more. After beating Queen's Park in the Petrofac Training Cup Semi Final 2-1 last Saturday at Hampden Park to reach their first national final they got back to league action on Tuesday night they drew 1-1 with Stranraer at Balmoor which was their seventh draw in 14 league games, not surprisingly the most by a club in the entire SPFL although come close to matching them in the Premiership with six.

COWDEN AWAY FORM
Our last away game saw our first win of the season on our travels when we beat Stranraer 3-0 at Stair Park, since then we have drawn at home to Dunfermline, 0-0, and beat Brechin also at Central Park last Saturday 3-0.
