MATCH PREVIEW - ALBION ROVERS (A)

Posted November 9, 2015

Match day number 13 proved to be unlucky for both Rovers and Cowden as a pitch inspection carried out just after mid day deemed the Cliftonhill surface waterlogged after heavy rain during Friday night and Saturday morning.

The clubs will once again try to get back into action on Tuesday night with a 7.45 p.m. kick off.

After leading them to the League 2 title last season in his first season in management Darren Young has got his side off to a good start in the higher league and currently sit in fourth spot with 20 points from their 12 games.

Rovers had sat in third place on Saturday morning but neighbours Airdrie's 3-2 win at Forfar that afternoon saw them leapfrog their Monklands neighbours on goal difference.

Back in August a goal after just two minutes from Greig Spence gave us a 1-0 win when Rovers visited Central Park and since then the Coatbridge side have only lost twice.

The travelling squad should be along familiar lines as last week with Robbie Buchanan being the only absentee following his return to Hearts. Rovers will be missing former Cowden front man John Gemmell after he was sent off in last weeks derby draw at Airdrie.

Recent signing Fraser Kerr will sit out the match as he works his way through a three game ban from his time at Motherwell last season.

Prior to kick off there will be a minutes applause in memory of former Albion Rovers director Gordon Dishington who sadly passed away recently.

COWDEN AWAY FORM

Our last away day a fortnight ago finally saw us get our first away win of the campaign when we beat Stranraer 3-0 with goals from Brad Donaldson, Kyle Miller and Robbie Buchanan.

ROVERS HOME FORM

Cliftonhill has become something of a fortress in Rovers early season success with local rivals Airdrie being the only side to leave with maximum points following a 3-1 on 12th September.

Rovers have won their other home games including a notable 3-0 win over Ayr. Brechin (3-1), Stenhousemuir (2-0) and Peterhead (1-0) have all left Coatbridge pointless.
