MATCH PREVIEW - ALBION ROVERS (H)

Posted August 21, 2015

On Saturday we welcome Albion Rovers to Central Park for the first time since Valentines Day 2012 when we ran out 3-0 winners thanks to a brace from Lewis Coult with former Rover Marc McKenzie also on target.

Last season the Wee Rovers won the League 2 title, their first championship success since 1989. It was a great start to his managerial career for player/manager Darren Young who had only taken over at Cliftonhill the previous summer.

We will have two players suspended as we go in search of our first points of the season. Declan Hughes finishes off a two game ban following his red card in our opening day defeat from Stranraer, while Craig Johnston will miss the next two matches after being red carded last week at East End Park.

Rovers have former Central Parkers Gary Fisher, John Gemmell and Scott McBride in their squad this season.

MATCH SPONSOR - MOORLANDS TRAVEL.

COWDEN FORM

We have lost our first four competitive games this season, although three of the matches have been against full time opposition. Our last two home games have seen one goal defeats against Raith Rovers in the Petrofac Training Cup and Stranraer in the league.

ROVERS FORM

Rovers have faired a little bit better than us with one win and three defeats. Having lost 3-1 to Ayr United in the Petrofac Training Cup at Somerset Park they gained revenge on Ian McCall's side a fortnight ago in the opening league game winning 3-0 at Cliftonhill.

In the League Cup they went down 3-0 to Raith Rovers at Starks Park and last Saturday lost 4-0 at Station Park against Forfar Athletic.

MATCH OFFICIALS

REFEREE: Mr Barry Cook. ASSISTANT REFEREES: Mr Willie Ferguson & Mr Steven Strang.

Last week Mr Cook was man in the middle in Ayr's home win over Brechin City, his first game of the season although he has been fourth official at both the Rangers v Hibernian Petrofac Training Cup tie and Ross County v Hamilton Accies in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
