This season, the Under 16/17s, the senior team of the Fife Elite Football Academy will play a number of their matches in the Club Academy Scotland league programme at the grounds of the four Fife senior clubs.

 

The decision to allow the FEFA 16/17s to play on the club’s pitch was taken by the Board members of each club further to a request from the Club representatives on the Board of Fife Elite.  One Board member from each of the clubs forms the Board of Fife Elite Football Academy.  This move will seek to further strengthen the links between the four Fife clubs and the Academy.  Already this season the players at U16/17 level have joined with their registered club to take part in pre-season training.  Whilst, it is still only one year since being formed, the Academy continues to make significant progress.  At the end of last season no less than 8 players out of the 12 players leaving the Academy were successful in securing contracts with their parent club.

 

Head of Youth at Fife Elite FA, Stephen Wright commented; “This is a great opportunity for the young players to be able to play in a stadium and the experience will be an integral part of their ongoing development.  Sometimes clubs can be reluctant to allow additional games on their pitch, so the decision by the Board of each club is to be lauded.  Hopefully, each occasion will be a memorable one, not only for the players but for their family too.  I would hope that fans of the four clubs would come along to the matches to get a flavour of the work that we are doing in the Academy.”

 

The dates for the matches in the early part of the season are;

 

6th September                 New Bayview v Kilmarnock

20th September               East End Park v Hearts

4th October                      Central Park v St Mirren

11th October                    Starks Park v Motherwell
