Two New Faces At Central!

Posted July 21, 2015

Cowdenbeath Manager Colin Nish has added two further players to his squad on the eve of the new campaign. Luke Armstrong and Sam Orritt are the new additions after impressing in Cowden’s pre season matches. We are delighted to welcome both lads to Central Park.

19 year old striker Luke Armstrong came through the Youth Academy ranks of Middlesbrough prior to joining Birmingham City last season where he featured in their under-21/Development squad. He scored twice for Cowden in the recent friendly versus Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Luke hails from the north east of England and is the son of ex-Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town striker Alun Armstrong who now runs the Alun Armstrong Soccer Centre on the George Reynolds Industrial Estate in Shildon.

Right winger/midfielder Sam Orritt is from the Doncaster/Thirsk area and joins the Blue Brazil after a spell in college football in the USA. Sam played at under-16 level with Rotherham United and then for Lincoln United before going Stateside. Sam has spent the last few years in South Carolina. He played for Limestone College Saints Athletic who in 2014 won a third straight Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship and a second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.

In his 4 years playing soccer at Limestone College, Sam picked up many personal accolades and awards including All Conference, Tournament MVP, Daktronics All-American NSCAA 2nd Team All-American, Conference Carolina's Player of the Year, and US College Sport Player of the Week.
