Match Preview: Stirling Albion v Cowdenbeath

Posted November 20, 2009

The big games keep coming thick and fast for Cowden and this weekend it's the SFL's game of the day as the league leaders face second placed Stirling Albion at Forthbank.

Paul McQuade's late winner last Saturday ensured a second week at top spot as Cowden came from behind to beat form team Dumbarton 2-1 - the first time that Cowden had lost the opening goal in a league fixture since 15th August 2009.

Stirling Albion had a late show of their own as a winning goal from Martin Grehan in the last minute against East Fife kept Stirling on level points with the Blue Brazil.

"There are no easy fixtures in this division and Saturday is another big game for us", commented Danny Lennon.

"Stirling are one of the strongest sides we have faced but I don't think that we did ourselves justice last time. We will be going there to try and put that right and win the match. We will prepare in the same way we do for every game and look for the players to maintain and improve on the standard of performance and application that they have set this season."

Lennon's injury list is slowing improving with Mark Baxter and Jay Stein coming through another 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek while Brian Fairbairn returned to the bench last weekend. Darren McGregor returned to light training this week after 4 months out due to illness and injury but is joined on the sidelines by John Dempster and Danny Mackay.

Meanwhile, back-up keeper Cameron McKay has been released so Kris Bower has been recalled from his loan spell with Oakley United.
