Jimmy Joins Northern Ireland

Cowdenbeath FC can now confirm that following an approach by Michael O’Neill, the manager of the Northern Ireland international team, the club has consented to the appointment of Cowden manager Jimmy Nicholl to the part-time role of Assistant Manager of Northern Ireland. The appointment should have a relatively limited impact on Jimmy’s role with us and his involvement with the Northern Irish squad will only apply when international matches are played.
It is a significant honour for Jimmy Nicholl to be requested to help his home country and also reflects well on Cowdenbeath FC. Of course, Michael O’Neill was formerly assistant manager at Central Park. Ex-Cowden boss Danny Lennon has recently taken charge of the Scotland under-21 squad whilst Craig Levein (Scotland) and Mixu Paatelainen (Finland) were also in the hotseat at Cowdenbeath before venturing into the international arena.
