Cowden Add Two More Youngsters

Posted January 11, 2015

Cowdenbeath FC recently added a further two Modern Apprentices to its playing squad bringing to 7 the number of full time players currently on young footballer apprenticeships.

Jamie Sneddon (17) is a goalkeeper who has been on a part time contract at Cowdenbeath since his release by Hearts in the summer, having previously been a regular with the Hearts youth teams. Jamie has recently been turning out for the Cowdenbeath Under 20 Team in the Development League and has been on the first team bench since the departure of Thomas Flynn. Jamie resides in Edinburgh.

Josh Wilson (17) is a midfielder who since the summer has been combining his schooling with day release training at the Club and has convinced the Manager that he is worth a full time contract. Formerly a youth player with Raith Rovers, Josh resides in Glenrothes.

Manager Jimmy Nichol said
“We have had both boys in since the summer, training with the first team squad and both have convinced me that they are worth full time apprenticeships. We now have 7 young footballers in at the Club full time. They are currently playing mostly for the Under 20 Team but some have already made the first team bench. If they continue to learn, work hard and develop as footballers, there is no reason why these boys cannot be first team players in the future.
