MATCH PREVIEW – QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (AWAY)
MATCH PREVIEW – QUEEN OF THE SOUTH (AWAY)
Posted December 20, 2014
After the disappointment of last week’s home game with league leaders Hearts being postponed due to the weather we get back into Championship action on Saturday afternoon when we face third place Queen of the South at Palmerston Park with a 3 p.m.kick off.
The Doonhamers have been in good form of late and have only suffered two league defeats since former Central Parker James Fowler was appointed as permanent manager.
Fowler, who joined the Dumfries side as a player/coach in the summer after 17 years at Kilmarnock, took over as manager in succession to predecessor Jim McIntyre who moved to Premiership side Ross County early in the season.
Fowler of course had a spell with us during the second half of last season on loan for Killie, playing a major role in our Championship survival, and returned to Central Park in late September as interim manager for a game which saw his side go down to a 2-1 defeat with Kudus Oyenuga and Calum Gallagher giving us a two goal lead at the break before another former Central Parker Derek Lyle pulled a goal back for the Doonhamers.
Marcus Fraser’s loan spell from Celtic came to a close last weekend and he has now returned to the Premiership leaders, while Declan Hughes is eligible for the last time on Saturday before returning to St Mirren.
For Queens Andy Dowie will miss the match as he commences a two match suspension.
Our last two away games have seen narrow 1-0 defeats at Falkirk in the William Hill Scottish Cup and against Rangers at Ibrox in our last league outing a fortnight ago.

Since their defeat at Central Park in late September Queeens have only lost two games both against Hearts at Tynecastle, home and away.
They are currently on a run of five home wins in both the league and the Scottish Cup with their last home defeat coming against Hearts on 4th October when they went down 3-0.
Only the Edinburgh side have a better home record in the Championship.
