NARROW DEFEAT AT IBROX
Posted December 7, 2014
RANGERS 1 COWDENBEATH 0
A goal eight minutes into the second half from Dean Shiels separated the sides on our first visit of the season to Ibrox Stadium. The Northern Irish internationalist had seen an effort come off the post in the first half but a stern performance had seen us go in at half time on an even footing.
Although the Gers had the greater possession most of their efforts on the Cowden goal were off target although Robbie Thomson had to pull off a good save in the closing minutes to stop sub Nicky Clark a second goal in the closing minutes of the game.
Jon Robertson returned to the side after injury while new signing Jordan Halsman made his debut.
The result still leaves us a point behind third bottom Alloa who lost by a similar score against Dumbarton, while bottom side Livingston clawed back three points with a 5-1 win at Raith Rovers to move to within four points of us.
After facing the second top side we now follow that up with a visit from league leaders Hearts to Central Park on Saturday.
