Hibernian Away - Match Preview
Hibernian Away - Match Preview
Posted September 12, 2014
After the international break we return to action on Saturday when we face Hibernian at Easter Road with a 3 p.m. kick off in week 5 of the Championship.
It’s the first of two successive Saturday’s in the capital for us as we face Hearts at Tynecastle the following week.
Our first league visit to Easter Road since 2nd January 1971 also coincides with Hibs legend Pat Stanton’s 70th birthday and it is perhaps appropriate that it falls on the day we return to his old stomping ground as he of course kicked off his managerial career with us back in 1981 after a spell as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen.
He of course soon moved onto Dunfermline and then Hibs where he was manager for two years before resigning in 1984.
Happy birthday Pat!
COWDEN FORM
It has been a disappointing start to the Championship campaign for us with only one point from the opening four games which leaves us at the foot of the table.
We have only played one league game away from home which saw a 2-1 defeat at Livingston, although in our last away outing we fought out a goal less draw with Falkirk before losing on penalties in the League Cup.
HIBS FORM
Following their relegation last season via the play offs Hibs have found life in the Championship tough going with one win in three games.
That win came on the opening day of the season when Livingston were beaten 2-1 at Easter Road.
Since then they have lost to Hearts (1-2), Falkirk (0-1) and Alloa (1-2). In the Petrofac Training Cup they went out at the first hurdle losing 2-1 to Rangers at Ibrox, while in the League Cup they beat Dumbarton 3-2 after being 2-0 down at one stage.
