MATCH PREVIEW – FALKIRK.

After two weekends of cup action we open our Championship campaign with a visit from Peter Houston’s Falkirk side.
Last season the Bairns, then under the charge of Gary Holt, won 3 out of 4 Championship meetings between the sides.

Our only success was in the opening meeting at Central Park last September when a last gasp goal from Greg Stewart gave us a 1-0 win.
The return game at the Falkirk Stadium in November saw a 4-0 home win with Mark Miller bagging a brace along with Rory Loy and Scott Shepherd in what proved to be Colin Cameron’s last game in charge of us.

Falkirk’s visit to Central Park in January, saw a 2-0 win for them with Miller and Loy once again on target in our last Championship defeat on home soil.
Our second game at the Falkirk Stadium in April once again saw a heavy defeat when we went down 5-0 to goals from Loy (3), Blair Alston and Craig Sibbald.

COWDEN FORM
We have had a 50% success rate in our opening two cup games, losing  3-1 after extra time to Brechin City in the Petrofac Training Cup but bouncing back last Saturday to beat Clyde 2-1 in the League Cup at Broadwood Stadium.

FALKIRK FORM
Peter Houston has seen his side win their opening two games, beating local rivals East Stirlingshire 7-1 in the Petrofac Training Cup at Ochilview and Montrose 3-1 in the League Cup at Links Park last Saturday.

PLAYER TO WATCH
Talented forward Rory Loy scored 21 Championship goals last season as Falkirk reached the Premiership play-off semi-finals only to lose out to eventual winners Hamilton Accies.
The former Kilmarnock, Rangers, St Mirren, Dunfermline and Carlisle frontman proved to be a thorn in our side last season, scoring four times against us.
