COWDENBEATH 1 ST MIRREN 4

We concluded our pre-season build up in the proverbial game of two halves at Central Parkon Tuesday night. A trialist forward gave us an early lead before former loanee Jason Naismith got the Buddies back level and on the stroke of half time Kenny McLean fired the visitors ahead.

The second half saw Jimmy Nicholl make eight out field changes and by the 65th minute keeper Thomas Flynn was the only Cowden player left from the starting line up, with the manager with one eye on Saturday's cup tie giving our younger players and a few other trialists a run out.

Not surprisingly the visitors, who only made two changes, had the better of the second period and an own goal from stand in skipper Darren Brownlie and a strike from James Marwood saw Tommy Craig's side run out convincing winners.

Next up for us is our first competitive game of the season on Saturday when Brechin City are the visitors to Central Park in the opening round of the Petrofac Training Cup.
