MATCH PREVIEW – BLYTH SPARTANS (AWAY).
After losing 2-1 to Premiership side Partick Thistle last Saturday in a closed door practice match in Glasgow we make our first public appearance of the season on Saturday when we face Evo Stik Northern Premier League side Blyth Spartans at Croft Park with a 3 p.m. kick off.
Last season the Spartans finished eighth in the league, their first season back in the division after being relegated from the Conference North, missing out on the final play -off spot by eight points.
Lewis Milne got the Cowden goal against Partick Thistle while Jimmy Nicholl gave a run out to a trialist from London who will be in the travelling party for the Blyth game.
BLYTH SPARTANS FORM
Spartans kicked off their 2014/15 fixtures last Saturday with a 1-0 home friendly win over neighbours Whitley Bay at Croft Park with Robbie Dale scoring midway through the first half.
An interested spectator in the 239 crowd was Newcastle United’s recent summer signing Ayoe Perez.
CROFT PARK & ADMISSION PRICES
Croft Park is a new venue for Cowden fans to watch their team, although we have played numerous sides from the North East of England this will be our first visit to Blyth.
The ground was opened in 1909 and over the last 11 years numerous improvements have been made which saw it fit to host Conference North football.
