Clyde 0 Cowdenbeath 1

Posted November 8, 2009

The Blue Brazil kept up their remarkable start to life in the Irn-Bru 2nd Division as Saturday's 1-0 win away to Clyde saw Danny Lennon's team take over top spot from Stirling Albion.

Under foot conditions were difficult after heavy rain during the week but Cowden worked their socks off and were the better team without ever hitting anywhere near top form.

Cowden had the bulk of possession and the better chances throughout although it took a tremendous save from David Hay to keep out an Ally Park header.

Paul McQuade came close to opening the scoring in the 2nd half but his shot came back off the cross bar but the winning goal finally arrived in the last minute. Cowden bombarded the Clyde goal in the closing stages and eventually got the breakthrough, from another corner, after Joe Mbu's, who was outstanding again, effort was blocked by a hand. Sub Scott McBride stepped up to coolly slot home to send Cowdenbeath to the top of the league.

The win also extended the Blue Brazil's unbeaten run to six games with only one defeat in the last eleven games - a run which has included seven clean sheets and eighteen goals.
