MATCH PREVIEW QUEEN OF THE SOUTH

Match day 36 and it’s the big one as we welcome Queen of the South to Central Park for the final Championship game of the season.
While all the media attention has been focused on the 3 way battle for the league title we are of course involved in a battle of our own with Alloa to avoid the relegation play-off spot.

Nothing less than a win will do for us while we also require the Wasps not to win at title chasing Falkirk.
The Doonhamers are the only side we have failed to beat in the Championship so far this season with a draw and two defeats in our previous three meetings.

Back in October Greg Stewart gave us an early lead on our first visit to Palmerston but a late equaliser from Andy Dowie denied us a win.
We then closed 2013 with a home defeat from Queen’s with Paul Burns and Iain Russell scoring in either half for the visitors.

The return trip south in March saw a 2-1 defeat with Chris Higgins and Gavin Reilly putting the home side two up in the first half before Sammy Stewart pulled a goal back in stoppage time.
Queens will be without the services of Mark Durnan and Derek Lyle on Saturday due to suspensions.

QUEEN OF THE SOUTH AWAY FORM
After a slow start to the season Jim McIntyre has done well to take the Doonhamers almost certainly to the promotion play-offs in their first season back in the Championship.
The Doonhamers sit in fourth place three points ahead of Dumbarton but with the added advantage of being 12 goals better off.
Last month saw the Dumfries side play four league games with two wins and two defeats. Falkirk won at Palmerston which was followed by a midweek defeat on their last visit to Fife against Raith Rovers.
However they have won their last two games against Dumbarton and Livingston.

COWDEN HOME FORM
After being cast seven points adrift from Alloa with three games to go two successive wins coupled with two defeats for the Wasps have now brought us to within a point of Barry Smith’s side.
At home we have been unbeaten for our last six Championship games with our last defeat at Central Park coming on 18th January against Falkirk.
