RESERVES REACH FINAL

Posted April 30, 2014

A last gasp winner from Kyle Miller gave us a deserved win in Monday night’s Reserve League Cup Semi Final at Central Park.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring against the run of play with 11 minutes gone when Emsden sent over a cross from the left for Jordan CAIRNIE to head home from six yards.
Nine minutes later Cairnie tried his luck with a 30 yard shot which was held by Usai before Cowden went onto dominate the game.

Visiting keeper Caraux was in fine form and dived to deny Callaghan with a long range shot.
Miller and Gold sent efforts wide before the keeper parried a Lynas 20 yard effort before parrying a Wright shot at the expense of a corner.
On the hour mark the keeper once again kept his side in the game blocking a Johnston header and minutes later a shot by Adamson from 19 yards was once again stopped by the Frenchman.
However after all his heroics the custodian was finally beaten with 12 minutes to go by one of his own players!

Defender Nicky JAMIESON attempted to clear the ball but only managed to hook the ball into his own net.
As the game looked set for extra time there was one last throw of the dice for Cowden and Callaghan sent over a cross for Kyle MILLER to head home to clinch a place in the final with Queen’s Park.

TEAM: Sebastian Usai, Jack Wright (Craig Brand 79), Kenny Adamson, Brad HAiney, Jamie Pyper, Aron Lynas, Kyle Miller, Liam Callaghan, Ben Anthony (Kyle Mitchell 76), Craig Johnston & David Gold. Subs not used – Greig Renton, Declan Byrne & Shaun Hunter.
We will now meet Queen's Park in the Final which will be played at Central Park sometime next week. The Spiders beat Alloa 1-0 in the other Semi Final tie at the Excelsior Stadium.
