MATCH PREVIEW – DUMBARTON
Match day 28 in the Championship see’s us return to the Bet Butler Stadium to face Dumbarton for the final time this season.
League results between the sides have been even this season with one win each and a draw although the Sons won our William Hill Scottish Cup tie.
Back in August we ran out 3-2 winners at Central Park thanks to a last gasp goal from Kane Hemmings.
Jamie Stevenson had given us a half time lead but two goals from Chris Turner had put the Sons 2-1 up early in the second half before Jon Robertson levelled the scoring.
However in a dramatic finale Jordan Morton saw a penalty saved before Hemmings injury time winner.
Our first visit to the Rock at the end of October saw a goal less draw before we returned the following week for our Scottish Cup tie when Jordan Kirkpatrick scored in each half either side of Jamie Stevenson’s equaliser.
Dumbarton’s second visit to Central Park in January saw a 4-2 win for Ian Murry’s side after Kyle Miller had given us an early lead.
Colin Nish and Mitch Megginson then gave Dumbarton the lead before Jamie Stevenson levelled the score however second half goals from Chris Kane and Megginson saw the Sons claim all three points.
DUMBARTON FORM
After being undefeated in the opening eight games of 2014, the Sons have lost their last two games against Queen of the South (1-3) and last week’s Scottish Cup Quarter Final at Aberdeen 0-1.
However hopes of reaching fourth place and a chance of a Premiership play-off is still very much alive as they are only three points behind Queen of the South with a game in hand.
