COWDENBEATH 2 DUNDEE 0
Goals in each half from new signing Rory McKeown and Greg Stewart gave us a well deserved win over league leaders Dundee at Central Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Dee had won their two previous games under new boss Paul Hartley and their fans headed to Fife in good numbers swelling the crowd to 1419.
Despite suffering the double early blow of losing both top scorer Kane Hemmings and Lewis Milne to injuries we took the lead in 33 minutes when good work from Stewart and Hemmings replacement Jamie Stevenson set up McKeown who fired home and angled 20 yard shot across the face of the Dee goal past keeper Letheren and into the corner of the net.
The Dens Parkers had a good chance to draw level early in the second half but Gallagher's header from a McAllister free kick went wide of target with the goal gaping.
Although they enjoyed plenty of possession at times the visitors did little with it in front of goal although from a Reilly corner a Gallagher header was cleared off the line by Fowler then another flag kick saw Brett another effort off the ine.
With ten minutes to go we then sealed a valuable three points when Stevenson sent Greg Stewart clear and the Cowden forward ran in to clip the ball past Letheren.
Indeed in the closing minutes Stewart was denied a second goal when the keeper pulled off a fantastic save from his curling shot.
The result see's us still lie second bottom of the Championship three points behind Raith Rovers, who dropped down the table following a 3-3 draw at Dumbarton, and four behind both Livingston and Alloa who beat bottom side Morton 1-0 at Cappielow to leave the Ton 12 points adrift.
Raith and Alloa meet in a rearranged game at Starks Park on Tuesday night which will put all of the sides on the same number of games played.
Next up for Jimmy Nicholl's side is a trip to Livingston next Saturday, while Alloa have a home game with second top Hamilton.
Man of the Match at the Dundee game as selected by Match Sponsors the Lister family, in memory of Rab Lister who sadly passed away recently, was skipper John Armstrong.
