MATCH PREVIEW – DUMBARTON
After opening 2014 with our 1-0 win at Alloa last Thursday we play the first of two successive home games on Saturday afternoon when Dumbarton visit Central Park, kick off 3 p.m.
Following their 2-0 home win over Morton last Saturday the Sons are now six points ahead of us in seventh place.
Saturday’s encounter with Ian Murray’s side will be our fourth meeting of the season with us holding the upper hand in the two previous Championship encounters although Dumbarton beat us in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
Back in late August we got our first win of the season when we beat the Sons 3-2 at Central Park.
Jamie Stevenson had given us a first half lead but a brace from Chris Turner had swung the game in Dumbarton’s favour midway through the second half.
Jon Robertson, playing in his first game for us after returning from St Mirren, levelled the score before Jordan Morton saw a last minute penalty saved by Jamie Ewings however Kane Hemmings grabbed a dramatic injury time winner.
Our first visit to the Bet Butler Stadium in late October saw a goal less draw, however the following week we returned to Dumbarton in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
Jordan Kirkpatrick gave the Sons a half time lead in the driving rain before Jamie Stevenson rifled home an equaliser however the joy was short lived as Kirkpatrick got his second goal of the afternoon minutes later to secure a 2-1 win for the hosts.
New loan signing David Gold, from Hibernian, goes straight into Jimmy Nicholl’s squad for the game after signing until the end of the season.
MINUTES SILENCE
Following the untimely death of lifetime Cowden Supporter and former director of the club Stuart Juner there will be a minutes silence in his honour prior to kick off.
