MATCH PREVIEW – DUMBARTON
After last Saturday’s goal less draw with Dumbarton in the Championship we return to the Bet Butler Stadium on Saturday afternoon for our William Hill Scottish Cup Third Round re-match.
We have a good Scottish Cup pedigree in games in the town of Dumbarton winning three times and losing just the once at the Sons old Boghead Park.
A brace from Sandy Ross gave us a 2-0 win in our last Scottish Cup visit to Dumbarton back in December 1989 although the last Scottish Cup tie between the sides in 2004 saw the Sons run out 3-2 winners with goals from Craig McEwan, Robert Dunn and Iain Russell.
Darren Gribben had given us an early lead but the visitors went 3-1 up before Liam Buchanan pulled a goal back for us in the last minute.
Only one player remains involved with the two sides from that game nine years ago with keeper Stephen Grindlay still remaining at the Rock.
