A late goal from Andy Dowie denied us our first away Championship win of the season at Palmerston Park on Saturday afternoon. Greg Stewart had given us a deserved lead after 11 minutes when home keeper Callum Antell spilled the strikers shot over the line.

A positive performance saw us create numerous chances to extend our lead in the opening 45 minutes however the score remained 1-0 at the break.

With five minutes to go however Dowie headed home a corner but Cowden showed great determination to grab all three points with Stewart taking advantage of a slack passback from Dowie which saw him round Antell only for Higgins to clear his shot off the line.

And in the closing seconds Antell made up for his error at the goal diving to block a Jon Robertson shot for his legs.

The game saw the close of the first quarter of the Championship with us still in ninth place with seven points, one ahead of bottom side Morton who we face at Central Park this Saturday with a 3 p.m. kick off.
