WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP THIRD ROUND
We have been handed an away tie with fellow Championship side Dumbarton in the Third Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
The match on Saturday 2nd November will be just the eighth meeting of the sides in the Scottish Cup.
We hold the upper hand in previous meetings with four wins while the Sons have won twice with the other game ending in a draw.
It’s the first time that we have played the Sons in nine years with the last tie taking place at Central Park on 27th November 2004 when the visitors ran out 3-2 winners thanks to goals from Craig McEwan, from the penalty spot, Robert Dunn and Iain Russell after Darren Gribben had given us the lead, while Liam Buchanan pulled a goal back in the last minute.
Our last victory over Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup came back on 13th January 1997 when a goal from Martin Scott gave us a 1-0 replay win after a goal less draw at Boghead the previous week.
Our overall record in the Scottish Cup in away games at Dumbarton is a good one with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat.
