Cowden in the Community - Senior Citizen Sponsorship

Big hearted Cowdenbeath Fans have once again shown their generosity by sponsoring Season Tickets for residents in local Care Homes. Both the Cowdenbeath FC 100 Club and the Official Supporters Club are involved and have donated the Season Tickets and on Monday afternoon (5th Aug) at Central Park, Season Tickets were handed over to Staff Representatives and Residents from Craigie House, Crossgates, Broad Street Respite Unit, Roselea House, and Valley House, Cowdenbeath.

John Anderson, committee member of the 100 Club explained
“ We were approached by one of our members who suggested it might be a good gesture to offer to supply season tickets to our Local Care Homes so that any resident who wanted to come to see the Club in this year’s Championship campaign could do so. The Supporters Club also thought it a good idea and offered to fund some season tickets as well. We then approached the Local Care Homes and are delighted that the four have accepted which will enable two residents from each home to attend Cowden games this season. “

On behalf of Valley House, Senior Social Care Worker, Marc Tully said
“ We all think it is a brilliant gesture from the club and its fans and a great way to involve the community. Older people can sometimes feel isolated in a care home and we work hard to minimise this so this initiative will benefit the home and its residents immensely.”

Speaking on behalf of Cowdenbeath FC, Club Chief Executive, Alex Anderson said
“ This is yet another example of our fantastic fans working for the good of the Cowdenbeath Area and showing true Community spirit.  The Club is indebted to the members of the 100 Club and the Supporters Club who sponsored the Season Tickets. We will be honoured to welcome the residents from the homes involved in this initiative and hope they enjoy a good season watching the Blue Brazil in the SPFL Championship. “
