MATCH PREVIEW – MORTON

It’s the start of a new era in Scottish Football on Saturday when the Championship kicks off with a visit to Cappielow to face Morton with a 3 p.m. kick off.
It will be a stern test for Colin Cameron’s side against the team who finished as runner up to Partick Thistle.
The midfield duo of Jamie Stevenson and Lewis Milne will be eligible for Saturday’s trip west after serving their suspensions after being red carded against East Fife and Dunfermline respectively.
Thomas O’Brien and Nat Wedderburn who missed the Berwick game through injury will also be added to the travelling squad.
In last season’s trips to Greenock we suffered two defeats with Lewis Hawke coming on the bench to score a last gasp winner in November to separate the sides.
The return game in March saw a 4-2 defeat despite us leading 2-0 at the break, so we will be looking for a wee bit better luck this weekend.

COWDEN FORM
So far in competitive games this season we have won and lost against lower league opposition in cup games.
A fortnight ago we lost 3-1 to neighbours Dunfermline in the Ramsdens Cup after Nat Wetherburn had given us the lead.
Last Saturday we however bounced back in style with a comprehensive 5-0 win at Berwick in the League Cup with Kane Hemmings bagging his first senior hat trick.

MORTON FORM
Like us Allan Moore’s side made a swift exit from the Ramsden’s Cup going down 1-0 at Annan with Ton old boy Peter Weatherson getting the only goal of the afternoon.
Last Saturday they had a 6-2 extra time win at East Fife in the League Cup with former Cowden loanee Archie Campbell bagging a brace as well as having a penalty saved.
