Posted October 24, 2009

The Blue Brazil failed to score for the first time in a league match this season but a fourth consecutive shut out earned a point in an entertaining 0-0 draw with second top Brechin City at Central Park.

The home side suffered a blow before kick off with the news that David Hay (concussion) and Gareth Wardlaw (illness) were unavailable but Cowden had the best of the first half and came close to opening the scoring through Scott McBride, Jay Stein, man of the match Joe Mbu and a John Armstrong header came back off the bar.

Brechin were fortunate to get the break on level terms but had the lions share of possession in the second half. However keeper Cameron McKay, making his full debut in the place of the injured Hay, had little to do until the closing minutes when he pulled off an outstanding point blank save to deny Kris Renton.
