COWDENBEATH ‘A 3 RAITH ROVERS’A’ 3

 

A late comeback saw the Cowden second string earn a point in their League Cup game with their Kirkcaldy counterparts at Central Park last Tuesday evening.

It was the home side who opened the scoring after just five minutes when Jack Nicholson headed home from a Cusack corner.

Seconds later however, the Rovers drew level when Jamie Watson broke through and volleyed the ball past Barnett from the edge of the box.

As half time approached Aitken almost put Raith ahead but his effort from the edge of the box hit the post.

A minute into the second half the visitors did take the lead when Aitken went on a good run and cut the ball back to Watson who slotted home his second goal of the night.

On 50 minutes the visitors went further ahead when slack defending allowed Mark Aitken through to shoot home from just inside the box.

Twenty minutes later Cowden commenced their comeback when David Aitken fired the ball home in a goalmouth scramble and with ten minutes remaining Ben Anthony grabbed an equaliser.
