MATCH PREVIEW – MORTON

After the postponement of our midweek clash with Partick Thistle we are back in action on Saturday afternoon when we head west to Greenock to face league leaders Morton at Cappielow with a 3 p.m. kick off.

In the three previous meetings this season Allan Moore’s table toppers have held the upper hand with two wins and a draw.

Back in September on their first visit of the season to Central Park the Ton raced into a 4-1 lead after 54 minutes, thanks to a Peter Weatherson brace, and further goals from Archie Campbell and David O’Brien with John Armstrong replying for Cowden.
However late goals from Mark Ramsay and Jamie Stevenson made the final score line a more respectable 4-3.

Our last visit to Cappielow in late November looked to be heading for a goal less draw before youngster Lewis Hawke came off the bench to grab what proved to be the winner with just two minutes remaining.

Our first home game of 2013 saw Morton as our first foots and a debut goal from Liam Caddis gave us the lead at the break before Peter MacDonald grabbed the equaliser early in the second half.

COWDEN FORM
We are currently on a four game unbeaten run which has seen us move into seventh place in the Irn Bru First Division.
Our last away game was three weeks ago when we drew 2-2 at Dumbarton.
Our away league record so far this season is
Played 13, Won 2, Drawn 4, Lost 7, Goals For 15, Goals Against 21, Points 10.

MORTON FORM
The Ton are two points ahead of Partick Thistle in the race for the championship although they have played two games more than the Glasgow side.
They have won their last two games against Falkirk and Dumbarton with their last defeat coming at Hamilton in a midweek game at New Douglas Park earlier this month.
Falkirk, Hamilton and Dumbarton are the only three sides to leave Greenock with maximum points this season with Morton’s last home defeat coming on 2nd January against the Sons.
Morton’s home league record this season is
Played 14, Won 9, Drawn 2, Lost 3, Goals For 24, Goals Against 14, Points 29.
