STEWART SIGNS
After appearing as a trialist in our games against Hamilton Accies and Airdrie United following Thomas Flynn's injury we have now signed keeper Colin Stewart on a short term contract until the end of the season.
The 33 year old is son of former Scotland keeper Jim Stewart and commenced his career as a youth signing with Ipswich Town.
He returned to Scotland to join his dad’s old club Kilmarnock but was unable to establish himself at Rugby Park and had spells out on loan at Clydebank, Alloa Athletic, Queen’s Park, Hamilton Academical and Stranraer.
He has since had spells with Ross County, Partick Thistle, Grindavik (Iceland), Livingston and Morton.
After being released by the Ton at the end of last season Colin has been coaching in Qatar for the Al-Khor Sports Club but recently turned out in three games for Second Division Stranraer as a trialist.
Colin , who won one under 21 cap against Latvia, is married to Scotland’s most successful international striker Julie Fleeting who has scored an amazing total of 116 goals in 120 games for the Woman’s international side.
Unfortunately Colin will be unavailable for the trip to his old club Morton on Saturday as he is currently in Italy coaching with the Scotland Under 15 squad.
