Fog Puts A Halt To Fine Display

Posted February 27, 2013

COWDENBEATH 2 PARTICK THISTLE 1

(Match abandoned after 68 minutes).

It was a frustrating night at Central Park on Tuesday night when referee Craig Charleston called a halt to the proceedings with 22 minutes remaining due to the fog.
Craig Moore, making his first start for us, had just put us back in front four minutes previously when the game was called to a halt, rendering the youngsters first senior goals null and void.

It was a makeshift side which had taken the field with the defensive trio of John Armstrong, Thomas O’Brien and Joe Mbu all side lined due to injuries and youngster Jason Naismith had to be signed on a one month emergency loan from St Mirren just hours before kick- off.

After losing three times to Thistle this season we opened the game brightly and were rewarded with a goal after just four minutes when Moore acrobatically volleyed home a Stevenson cross.
In an end to end opening 45 minutes the visitors drew level on 23 minutes when Welsh released Erskine who squared the ball for Steven Lawless who bundled the ball home at the second attempt after Flynn did well to block his initial effort.

With the fog descending and getting worse during the interval the match official spoke to both managers who agreed to carry on however and in 64 minutes we went back in front when Stevenson cut the ball back to Moore to slot the ball past Fox.
