MATCH PREVIEW – PARTICK THISTLE

Saturday afternoon see’s the start of a double header of Irn Bru First Division fixtures against the Jags when we visit Firhill with a 3 p.m. kick off.
Although the Glasgow side have won the two previous meetings this season they have been close affairs.
Back on 22nd September on our last visit to Firhill the Jags ran out 2-1 winners. Aaron Muirhead gave them the lead from the penalty spot midway through the first half but Jamie Stevenson equalised early in the second half with a 30 yard shot.
However an unfortunate own goal from Scott Linton with 20 minutes to go, saw Thistle edge through.
A few weeks later the sides met at Central Park in the Semi Final of the Ramsdens Cup before the live BBC Alba cameras and a goal 16 minutes from time saw Thistle reach their first national cup final since their famous 1971 League Cup win over Celtic.
Player/Manager Colin Cameron will miss the game as he serves a one game ban after being sent off at Hamilton a fortnight ago.

COWDEN FORM
We have now gone 15 games without a win in the Irn Bru First Division during which time we have had eight draws and seven defeats.
Our last game was a fortnight ago when we went down 2-1 to Hamilton at New Douglas Park.
Kane Hemmings had given us a half time lead but two goals in the space of four minutes just after the hour from Jonathan Page and Stevie May saw Accies take the points.
Our away league record this season so far is
Played 10, Won 2, Drawn 3, Lost 5, Goals For 12, Goals Against 14, Points 9.

PARTICK THISTLE FORM
Thistle sit in second place five points behind leaders Morton although they have played two games less than the Greenock side.
They have the best home record in the First Divison having won 9 of their ten home fixtures, with run- away Second Division leaders Queen of the South having a better home record in Scottish senior football.
Their only home defeat came against Morton on Boxing Day when Martin Hardie scored six minutes from time to give the Ton a 2-1 victory.
Last Saturday they ran out 4-1 home winners over Falkirk with both Conrad Balatoni and Chris Erskine hitting braces with Lyle Taylor getting the Bairns goal.
Partick Thistle’s home league record this season is
Played 10, Won 9, Drawn 0, Lost 1, Goals For 34, Goals Against 8, Points 27.
