Posted January 24, 2013

The midnight league at Beath community use run by the SFA and Cowdenbeath FC coaches got a VIP visitor on Friday night in the shape of local MP and former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. Local councillors, Alex Rowley, Willie Clark and Peter Lockhart also attended to lend support to the initiative which runs every Friday night between 8.30pm and 10pm.

Mr Brown praised all those involved in the initiative and said "Fife is proving that it wins when people come together"
Cllr Rowley congratulated those supporting the venture and added "well done to those taking part"

The midnight league is free to youths and there is no need to register, just turn up on the night.

The Beath midnight league has been so popular that it has now also started at Lochgelly High School on Fridays between 7.30 and 9.30pm, again run by SFA and Cowdenbeath FC coaches

John Lints, Cowdenbeath FC Chief Executive said, "The Club are delighted to be involved in this community initiative and that it is has been so popular that it has been extended into Lochgelly. The coaches involved do a great job and have built up a good relationship with the youths"
