Here's Johnny!

Danny Lennon ended his two month pursuit of John Armstrong when he completed the signing of the talented defender on a two-year deal after today's game. 'Chopper' was a wanted man after his release from Hearts at the end of August but turned down numerous offers to go elsewhere to sign up again at Central Park.

A loan deal for Armstrong fell through at the beginning of August but Lennon continued his interest in the player and, despite working with a considerably reduced budget this season, was able to eventually get his man. The 22-year old central defender was determined to hold out to get his move to Central Park despite having more lucrative offers on the table and turned out as a trialist for the Blue Brazil in recent weeks as Lennon and the Board worked hard to make the deal possible.

"I am absolutely delighted that John is now on board", said Lennon

"It has taken a great deal of time and effort to make this happen and it speaks volumes for this club that a player of John's calibre wants to be part of what we are trying to achieve here."

Armstrong has spent the best part of the last two seasons, making just over 60 appearances, with the Blue Brazil after originally signing from Hearts on a year long loan deal in the summer of 2007. He rejoined  the club on loan last season and was a standout performer at the heart of the defence as Cowden finished second top of the 3rd Division.
