Cowdenbeath Progress and Score Eight!

Posted November 3, 2012

COWDENBEATH 8 VALE OF LEITHEN 1

An eight goal blitz saw us progress into the Fourth Round of the William Hill Scottish Cup at Central Park on Saturday afternoon.

It however was visitors’ Vale of Leithen who opened the scoring after just two minutes through Scott Moffat but the East of Scotland League sides chances of a shock win were reduced when player/co-manager Kerr Dodds received a straight red card for a foul on Jamie Stevenson.

Greg Stewart bagged a 17 minute hat trick to give us a 3-1 lead at the interval and shortly after the restart a brace from Lewis Coult either side of a Marc McKenzie strike put us well in control.
Further goals from William Hill ‘Man of the Match’ Marc McKenzie and captain for the day Jamie Stevenson capped a fine performance.

The draw for the Fourth Round will take place at Hampden Park on Monday afternoon at 2.30 p.m.

We will be joined in the draw by the Clydesdale Bank SPL sides along with Dunfermline Athletic, Falkirk and Livingston and the other winners from this afternoon’s ties – Ayr United, Turriff United, Dumbarton, Queen of the South, Elgin City, Partick Thistle, Rangers and Deveronvale.

Sides who will go into the hat after drawing this afternoon are Airdrie United, Raith Rovers, Albion Rovers, Morton, Brechin City, Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, Forfar Athletic, Nairn County, Inverurie Loco Works, Arbroath, Stenhousemuir, Berwick Rangers, Stranraer and Queen’s Park.
