Reserve League - East Fife

Posted October 18, 2012

COWDENBEATH ‘A’ 1, EAST FIFE ‘A’ 1

Despite playing with ten men for 82 minutes we were unlucky not to take all three points from Tuesday nights ‘wee derby’ game.
With just eight minutes gone a netbound shot from former Central Parker McBride was handled on the line by Fleming who was red carded.

However the resultant spot kick by Sloan was saved by keeper Wight who correctly dived to his right to deny the Fifers an opener.
It was however the visitors who opened the scoring after 27 minutes when Barr sent over a cross which Sean Fraser fired home from close range.

Their lead proved to be short lived as Lewis Milne grabbed an equaliser six minutes later when he shot through a packed box from eight yards.
Both sides had their chances to grab a winner with Cowden coming closest 13 minutes from time when Garcia Rey fired home a free kick from the edge of the box via the underside of the crossbar.
However the whistle had gone for a handball offence by Sloan in the defensive wall and after the Methil man was booked Garcia Rey saw his retaken kick whistle narrowly past the post.
