Fundraising Gig!

Posted August 20, 2012

Rubber Stamp Promotions are holding a fundraising gig for Cowdenbeath FC on Friday the 31st of August in Wee Jimmies Cowdenbeath. This will be the third year of supporting the club with a fundraising gig and this year is more important than ever for the club financially, given the upheaval in the Scottish senior game at the moment. They’ve also got a big season ahead of them on the pitch, as they won the Second Division championship last season and are now playing the likes of Dunfermline Athletic, Raith Rovers & Falkirk this season in the First Division. All money raised from tickets sales will go direct to the club and tickets are available to buy from Wee Jimmies Bar at a cost of £5. There will also be a raffle held on the night and amongst the prizes are 2 signed shirts donated by Cowdenbeath FC, one of which was signed by  Scotland manager Craig Levein on his recent visit to Central Park and the other shirt has been signed by the Cowdenbeath squad.

The bands playing the gig are as follows.

Under Fire were formed in 2011 and consist of members from 2 successful local function bands. The band consists of 4 members coming from varied rock and pop backgrounds. Vocals, bass, guitar and drums are occupied by Adele, Bryan, Louis and Rich respectively. The band will be playing 2 x 50 minute sets of covers at this one. Check out their website for a list of songs the band perform and other info http://under-fire.co.uk/ test/

The Other Side hail from Ballingry and the band got together in 2009. Within 3 months they had written and recorded 8 songs, launched themselves on the internet and did their first gig at The Ark in Edinburgh .

Described by Andy Gee at Dead Earnest, as Blues/Rock maestros with tasty songs and searing guitar, pretty much sums up The Other Side. This is true both live and in the studio.

After the success of their first album, Catch the Sun, they released their second album in February this year, Don’t Piss Down my Back (and Tell me It’s Raining) and it has only served to have consolidated this description, with more Blues/Rock and more guitar riffage. They are now working on their third album and are starting to gig further afield.

All music is Recorded, Engineered and Produced in their own rehearsal room. http:// theothersidefife.com/ fr_home.cfm

The Manky Hoors will open up the gig and this 4 piece punk genre band consists of 3 members from Rosyth with the other member of the band from the Perth area. All of the guys were in other bands before forming The Manky Hoors last summer. The band have played gigs at The Jam Jar Dunfermline, Woodstock Wellwood and Bannermans Edinburgh amongst others
