Cowdenbeath FC v East Fife FC

Posted August 13, 2012

It’s derby day once more on Tuesday night when we host East Fife in the Second Round of the Ramsdens Cup with a 7.45 p.m. kick off.
After the disappointment of losing to Dunfermline Athletic, Colin Cameron will be looking to bounce back against Gordon Durie’s side who beat Peterhead 2-1 in the opening round at Balmoor.
This will be the third time that we have met East Fife in the Challenge Cup. Back on 27th September 1994 a hat trick from Mark Yardley saw us win 3-0 at the old Bayview Park.
The other meeting at Bayview Stadium on 31st July 2004 saw a goal less draw with Cowden eventually winning 4-3 on penalties.

COWDEN FORM
We go into the match having lost our last two games against Montrose and Dunfermline Athletic.
Our only win so far came in the last round of the Ramsdens Cup when we beat Alloa Athletic 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

EAST FIFE FORM
East Fife’s form so far this season has been mixed. After being the only side to beat Peterhead on their home ground in 90 minutes in the last round they not surprisingly went down 4-0 to a strong Rangers side at Ibrox last Tuesday night in the Scottish Communities League Cup.
On Saturday they opened their Second Division campaign with a 1-1 draw at Alloa. Darren McCormack gave them a half time lead before one time Cowden loanee Stephen Simmons grabbed an equaliser for the wasps.

PLAYER TO WATCH
Gareth Wardlaw makes his first appearance at Central Park since he left us to join St Mirren two years ago.
Gareth only spent a season with us but it was a memorable one! He scored 19 goals in his 40 appearances for us as we marched to a play-off final win over Brechin City.

MATCH OFFICIALS
Taking charge of Tuesday’s game is Mike Tumilty who will be assisted by Andy Tait and Ross McIntyre.

ADMISSION
Gate prices for the game have been set at Adults - £14 and Concessions - £7. There will be no family gate for this game and season tickets are not valid for the tie.

THE BLUE BRASILIAN
Our multi award winning match day programme will be on sale from just inside the turnstiles priced £2.
All funds raised from the sale of the programme go towards helping your club, so remember to get your copy on Tuesday!
