Robbo Crowned 2nd Division Player of the Year

Posted May 7, 2012

Jon Robertson was last night crowned the Scottish PFA 2011/12 Second Division Player of the Year at the award ceremony in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.

The award caps a fantastic season for Cowdenbeath Football Club and "Robbo" with the skipper lifting the Second Division Championship trophy at the weekend, which will see the team return to the second tier of Scottish football at the first attempt.

Jon joined the Blue Brazil as a promising 17-year old in 2007 and will depart for the St. Mirren later this month after securing a deserved move to SPL football. In an eventful six years at Central Park, Robbo has been involved in three promotion and two relegation campaigns, played over 125 first team games scoring 12 goals, and became one of the most sought after talents in the Scottish Football League.

Four Cowden players were also selected in the Second Division Team of the Year with Robbo joined by team mates Joe Mbu, John Armstrong and Kenny Adamson. The full team, as voted by their peers, is:

Stephen Grindlay (Dumbarton), Mark Baxter (Arbroath), John Armstrong (Cowdenbeath), Joe Mbu (Cowdenbeath), Kenny Adamson (Cowdenbeath), Josh Falkingham (Arbroath), Jon Robertson (Cowdenbeath), Scott Agnew (Dumbarton), Ryan Donnelly (Airdrie United), Ryan Wallace (East Fife) & Steven Doris (Arbroath).
