Match Preview- Cowdenbeath v Airdrie

Posted May 3, 2012

It’s the final game in what has been an amazing season on Saturday when we host Airdrie United.
Although we have nothing more than pride to play for it is a different story for Jimmy Boyle’s Diamonds side who need the three points to secure the final play-off spot.
The Diamonds sit on 51 points along with Stenhousemuir but are two goals better off than their Ochilview counterparts.
After the game the team will be presented with the Second Division Championship trophy.

Please DO NOT run onto the pitch after the game! as this will action will hold up the Celebrations!

PREVIOUS MEETINGS THIS SEASON
We have been unbeaten in the previous three games with two wins and a draw. Back in August we ran out 5-1 winners at the Excelsior Stadium. After Ryan Donnelly had given the Diamonds an early lead goals from Scott Linton (2), Jon Robertson, Lewis Coult and Jordan Morton gave us our first ever win over the current Airdrie club.
The return game at Central Park; in January saw a 2-0 win thanks to goals in either half from Marc McKenzie and Mark Ramsay from the penalty spot.
Our second visit to Airdrie; in March saw a 1-1 draw with Sean Lynch giving the Diamonds a half time lead before Mark Ramsay once again scored from the penalty spot.
