Match Preview- Cowdenbeath v Forfar Athletic

Posted April 18, 2012

It’s the BIG ONE on Saturday when Forfar Athletic are our visitors. A win for the Blue Brazil would see us crowned as league champions although it will be a tough 90 minutes against Dick Campbell’s Loons side that are battling to avoid the drop to the Third Division.

MATCH AND BALL SPONSORS

Match Sponsor on Saturday is Mrs Jenny Findlay. The Match Ball Sponsor is Subsea Pressure Controls. We hope that both Mrs Findlay and Neil Fentie have something to celebrate come Saturday tea time and we thank them for their sponsorship.

TEAM NEWS

Lewis Coult will be suspended for Saturday’s game after picking up his sixth yellow card of the season against Arbroath. Kenny Adamson will be eligible after serving his one game ban at Stirling last week.

COWDEN FORM
The defeat from Arbroath was our first home defeat since last season’s Play Off Semi Final defeat from Brechin City. We have played 16 home league games this season winning 12, drawing 3 and losing once. We have scored 35 times conceding 10.

FORFAR ATHLETIC FORM

The Loons currently sit in eighth place just ahead of Albion Rovers on goal difference and five points ahead of bottom side Stirling Albion. The Loons are one of just five sides who have beaten us in the league with a 1-0 win at Station Park back in January. Since then the Loons have played 15 league games winning four, drawing four and losing seven.

FORFAR ATHLETIC TEAM NEWS

Defender Iain Campbell will miss Saturday’s game at Central Park as he serves a one game ban.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS THIS SEASON

The previous three meetings of the sides have seen both teams win a home game after an opening day draw at Station Park. Back in August goals from Mark Ramsay and Lewis Coult saw us earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Station Park with Mark McCulloch and Chris Templeman from the penalty spot getting the Loons goals. The return game at Central Park in October saw us run out 3-1 winners with Coult on target once more along with Greg Stewart who bagged a brace. On loan Don Nicky Low got the Loons consolation goal. Low was once again on target at Station Park in January getting the only goal of the afternoon.
