The constant strong wind played a major role in Saturday’s closed door friendly against League Two side Stenhousemuir as the Blue Brazil went down to a narrow defeat in a match played in three 30 -minute periods.

Gary Naismith’s sides kicked off with the wind at their backs and took the lead after just six minutes when Euan O’REILLY ran in on goal before slotting a low shot into the far corner of Danny Farrell’s goal.

Farrell had to be alert to tip a long- range free kick from Matty Yates over the bar while at the other end Cieran Chalmers saw a shot go narrowly past the post.

As the first period drew to a close Robbie McNab blocked a Yates' effort in the six- yard box.

With 41 minutes gone Ewan MacPherson slotted the ball to Josh Jack who was in a good position but he was flagged offside.

Two minutes later the equaliser came when a curling shot on the right from Aiden McLAUGHLIN flew over former Kelty keeper Darren Jamieson on its way into the top corner of the net.

Stenny almost restored their lead in 53 minutes when Brown saw a header come off the crossbar following a corner.

Two goals in the space of two minutes at the start of the third period put the Warriors 3-1 up with YATES and O’REILLY both scoring from close range.

Cowden however pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining when Jamie DOCHERTY fired a low angled shot into the far corner of the home net.
