We extended our unbeaten run to three games with a second successive away draw at the Bet Butler Stadium.
The first period saw Dumbarton have the better of things and on several occasions they looked capable of getting a goal.
In the early stages Gilhaney sent over a good diagonal pass which Prunty almost reached with Flynn stranded and then Kirkpatrick hit the bar with a fierce effort from the middle of the box.
Cowden were finding it hard to get into good positions and a Stevenson shot which flew wide was the nearest they came in that period of the game.
Seven minutes from the break Sons’ Megginson fired in a 14 yarder which grazed Flynn’s right hand post and over the piece Sons would feel their work was worth a goal.
The second period saw Cowden look a lot more dangerous and a minute into the second-half Robertson’s dipping shot went inches over.
Then soon after Stevenson’s 20 yarder flashed back into play off keeper Ewings’ right hand post and then Hemmings let fly only to see the ball go well over.
But still Sons carried a threat and just after the hour Megginson got away from Armstrong and O’Brien and his shot hit the bottom of a post.
Robertson went off injured with 17 minutes left to be replaced by Miller and Stewart took a pass from the sub and saw Ewings hold his drive before Armstrong latched onto a Hemmings knock-down only to see Ewings block his effort.
Dumbarton tried to up the tempo in the closing minutes but Flynn was equal to anything that they could come up with and the Blues still carried a threat with Hemmings finding space on the edge of the box but shooting wide.
