An early goal from Kyle Miller was enough to give us our third successive win at a rain sodden Central Park.
Despite pre match injury worries over Colin Cameron and Lewis Coult who had both picked up injuries at Dumbarton the previous week it was the same starting line- up which took the field.
Midweek signing Zeph Thomas found a place on the bench and made his debut in the second half.
The visitors had the first chance of the afternoon after nine minutes when former Cowden loanee Fisher beat Cameron to a challenge and raced down the wing before sending a cross over to Crawford whose low 20 yard shot went past the post.
Three minutes later however we got what proved to be the winner. A good piece of work by McKenzie resulted in a corner which was swung over by Linton and after deceiving the visiting defence fell to Kyle Miller who tapped the ball home.
Minutes later we had a good chance to double our advantage when Coult set up Stewart by keeper Cuthbert managed to block the ball with his legs.
Stewart then turned provider when he sent the ball to Miller but the youngster fired over the bar.
At the other end McShane flicked the ball onto Hendrie but his shot was blocked by Flynn at the expense of a corner.
With 28 minutes gone Accies Gillespie was yellow carded for a foul on Stevenson and a minute later was replaced by Kirkpatrick.
Fisher once again fired an inviting cross into the Cowden box but there were no takers and the danger was cleared, while a similar cross minutes’ later was headed away by Armstrong.
Coult then sent over a cross which was met by Miller whose shot was blocked for a corner by the keeper. MacKinnon then saw a shot saved by Flynn as the first half came to a close.
The second half opened with a Stevenson shot from the edge of the box being deflected off an Accies defender for a corner and a minute later he was set up by Stewart by his low shot was saved by the diving Cuthbert.
Bizarrely soon after the Accies keeper was in action at the other end minutes later when he took a free kick 25 yards out which was held by Flynn.
Accies freshened up their attack with on loan Celtic youngster Keatings replacing MacKinnon.
Crawford then sent a shot wide of the post as Accies looked for a leveller while Stevenson tried his luck with a 25 yard free kick which went wide of the target.
Fisher then fired in a long range effort which was held by Flynn while on the hour mark at the other end McKenzie set up Stewart but his shot was blocked with the ball falling to McKenzie who sent it wide of goal.
Stevenson then saw another effort turned around the post by Cuthbert. We then made two changes in quick succession with Thomas replacing Stewart for his debut while Milne came on for Stevenson.
Kirkpatrick fired in a long range effort which was held by Flynn while minutes later the sub saw another effort deflected over the bar for a corner.
Brett then sent over a cross to McKenzie but his effort was blocked by Cuthbert while Flynn denied Gordon soon after.
As the game came to a close Milne came close for Cowden while McShane of Accies sent an injury time free kick over the bar.
