Cowdenbeath and Hibernian served up a Scottish Cup classic at Central Park as the SPL side were fortunate to come out on top in a 5-goal thriller in front of 2,600 spectators.
Colin Cameron's young team made the perfect start with the opening goal after only 16 seconds! Almost straight from kick off the player/manager played a fantastic ball into Greg Stewart on the edge of the box and the talented striker turned Sean O'Hanlon inside out before firing past Mark Brown from 16 yards.
Hibernian dominated the game for a long spell after this and were rewarded for their superiority with three goals. Leigh Griffiths (18) equalised with a 30-yarder into the top corner and further goals from Eoin Doyle (27) and David Wotherspoon (53) put the top league side in the driving seat.
However, the Blue Brazil refused to buckle and it was one way traffic with the Hibernian goal under severe pressure for the closing 25 minutes of the game. The introduction of Lewis Coult made a difference up top and Jon Robertson (69) - who was immense throughout - brought Cowden back into the game with a goal fit to grace any game after lobbing the ball over O'Hanlon before placing a volley past Brown with the outside of his foot.
The same player had the best of a number of good chances to take the tie to a replay at Easter Road but blazed over.
Hibernian survived the onslaught to take their place in the 5th round draw.
Joe Mbu was presented with the sponsor's(Subsea Pressure Controls) man of the match champagne.
