Preview: Cowdenbeath v East Fife

PostedJanuary 1, 2012

Neighbours East Fife come first footing on Monday afternoon for the first derby of 2012.

The Blue Brazil signed off from 2011 in style with the Boxing Day triumph over Stenhousemuir and will be looking to start the new year in the same vein. The result moved us three points clear at the top of the division but East Fife will provide another stern test. John Robertson's side have serious play-off ambitions and know that a win could kick-start their season and put a dent in their rival's title aspirations.

Colin Cameron's team have had the upper hand in the derby matches this season with a 3-2 win at Central Park in September followed by a 3-1 away victory in November.

Cameron will be without Thomas O'Brien (foot injury) for up to two months but can call on the services of Kenny Adamson following suspension and Craig Winter who has been recalled from his loan spell with East Stirlingshire.

The early 2012 action is mouth watering with the derby quickly followed by the visit of SPL Hibernian in the 4th round of the William Hill Scottish Cup on Saturday. Tickets are available for sale from Central Park and the online shop.
