Loan Ranger Archie Campbell signed off from his loan spell at Central Park with a double as nine-man Cowden earned another point in the quest to avoid the relegation play-offs.
With Ross County losing, the point moves Cowden onto equal points with the Dingwall side (who have a game in hand and a better goal difference). However, it could have been all three points as a Campbell penalty miss with 15 minutes remaining denied the youngster his hat-trick and a valuable win for his team.
Campbell opened the scoring after only two minutes after turning his marker and firing home from 12 yards.
Queens side equalised 15 minutes later after the unmarked Daniel Carmiechal slotted home at the back post but a Campbell penalty (31) soon had Cowden ahead again.
The home side pegged Cowden back for a second time on the stroke of half-time after a lucky ricochet left Derek Holmes with only the keeper to beat from 18 yards out.
Campbell looked to have won the game with 15 minutes remaining when he was felled in the box by Craig Reid. The Queens defender was shown a staight red card for a professional foul but Campbell's spot kick was saved by Roddy McKenzie.
Kenny Adamson and Colin Cameron received late red cards after picking up second yellows for simulation and dissent respectively.
