A failure to defend set plays cost Cowden dearly as Falkirk edged out 2-1 winners at Central Park.
The home side started the game confidently and were deservedly one up at the break thanks to a composed finish from top scorer Greg Stewart (32) after a fine assist from Lewis Coult.
Robert Olejnik made a game changing wonder save from a Scott Linton looping header before Mark Stewart (65) equalised from close range after the Cowden defence failed to clear a Falkirk corner.
4 minutes later the unmarked Brian McLean powerfully head home the winner from a Mark Millar free kick.
