Jimmy Nicholl moved to ease his defensive injury problems after concluding a deal to sign former Rangers and Scotland under 21 defender Bob Malcolm until the end of the season. However, the player currently has a back injury and is doubtful for Saturday's trip to Firhill.
The 30-year old had been training with Queen of the South but turned out as a trialist for the Blue Brazil in recent weeks in the win over Stirling Albion the home defeat to Dundee. He missed the midweek game against Raith Rovers after suffering a trapped nerve in his back.
The vastly experienced player, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, was with Dundee last season after returning from a year in Australia with Brisbane Roar. Malcolm has also turned out for Derby County, Queens Park Rangers (loan) and Motherwell in addition to winning one under 21 cap and 3 B caps for Scotland.
